Cape Town where to be and what to do

Cape Town where to be and what to do

City Stay Packages - Cape Town

City Bowl
Cape Town’s city centre is a relatively small area because it is geographically constrained between the slopes of Table Mountain and the Atlantic ocean. There is a real energy and rhythm about the ‘city bowl’ as businessmen, tourists and flower sellers inter mingle as they go about their daily tasks. There is accommodation to suit every traveller’s budget from backpackers, who are mostly situated on Long Street, to five star hotels with magnificent views of Table Mountain and restaurants fit for Kings. Many of the attractions are within easy walking distance, the Castle of Good Hope – original fort built by the Dutch; the Company Gardens – where vegetables were grown for the early sailors to counter scurvy; Bo-Kaap – lively suburb filled with brightly coloured houses of residents who were known as the Cape Malays, descendants from slaves during the the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries ; Jewel Africa - diamond factory that has daily tours highlighting the cutting process and how to distinguish the difference between diamonds; the Natural History Museum, the planetarium and the National Art Gallery.

Atlantic Seaboard
From Green Point to Hout Bay, this is the idyllic west facing sunset stretch of coast line, nestled on the slopes of Lion’s Head or the Twelve Apostles, lies an assortment of accommodation, mostly upmarket but we have selected our recommended favourites that offer good value. Here there is easy access to the city centre, the V&A Waterfront and most of the popular beaches, which are sheltered from the strong south-easter wind the blows predominantly in summer. There is a cosmopolitan atmosphere amongst the many restaurants and outdoor cocktail bars. Another popular attraction is the Sea Point promenade which is a paved walkway stretching approximately 6km, where joggers, brisk walkers, casual walkers, skate boarders, dogs and owners, Muslims, Christians, Jews and any other interested party gather to exercise or soak up the fresh sea air and stunning scenery.
