Vilanculos is a friendly town with a lively atmosphere from which to explore the picturesque Bazaruto Archipelago, which offers some of the world's best snorkeling, diving and big game fishing. The islands are pristine in their natural beauty and diverse ecologies. The coral reefs are profuse with a diversity of tropical fish and turtles, and are amongst the most pristine in the Western Indian Ocean. Dolphins are seen year round and whales are seasonal visitors to the Archepelago.

Itinerary

Day 1: South Africa to Mozambique (Bilene)
Our tour starts off with a drive from the top of the plateau down to Nelspruit.  From here we go past the southern point of Kruger National Park to the border of Mozambique. Once crossing the border we make our way to the tropical beachesmoz-swimmers-bc of Bilene. Our evening ends with a typical Portuguese dinner.

Day 2: Bilene Mozambique
After an early morning swim in the clear waters of the inland lake that stretches for 27 kms, breakfast is served where after you can relax on the beach at our campsite.  The rest of the day you can familiarize yourself with the local fisherman and maybe even go prawning with them.  This is an excellent time to immerse your self in their culture and get to know how the locals live.  There is a local market where you can find an assortment of curious and a walk through of the town is a must. Your guide will organize a trip across the lake and take you to one of the best places to see the turtles that make Mozambique there home

moz-Bamboozi-campDay 3: Morrungulo Campsite and Lodge

Leaving the inland lakes of Bilene behind us, we make our way further North through the towns of Xai Xai, Maxixe through the coconut plantations to the tropical beaches of Morrungulo.  Our campsite is an old army base.  A late afternoon swim in the warm Indian Ocean is a must.

Days 4, 5: Bazaruto Archipelago Mainland Accommodation

The road continues north from here where the coconut trees take up most of the space in this once forgotten country.  In-land lakes also make up for the beauty as we make our way up to the Bazaruto Archipelago, where the islands give you a feeling, once only experienced by the explorers of the past. The days are spent in the fresh air on the beaches of the Vilankulo. A Dhow trip is organized for sail-boatthe day out to one of the Islands. Snorkeling at one of the reefs in the area a must with its many species of fish, and, at times, the Green and Leather- Back Turtles and Manta Rays. Fresh seafood and catch of the day is one of the attractions of this area.

Day 6: Barra Campsite and Lodge

After a late morning we make our way down the coast to Barra Reef for the afternoon. Once there you can enjoy the afternoon on the beach. Also you can go for a walk and watch the local fishermen fishing along the coast in there Dhow’s. If you are a diver you mite have time for an afternoon dive.

We have a bit more time to sleep in this morning before we make our way back through the coconut trees once more to the markets of Inhambane and the beaches of Tofo, where Whale Sharks are plentiful.  We will arrive at our accommodation in the early afternoon.  The following 3 days are spent at your own will, enjoying the beach or taking leisurely walks.  An Ocean Safari is included in the tour which your guide will organize for you with one of the diving schools in the area. If you are a diver you can enjoy a dive at one of the best dive spots in the world.

Day 11: Casa Liza

After time spent on the pristine beaches, our journey takes us South to our camp for the night.

Day 12: Pretoria/Johannesburg

Today bids us a fond farewell back towards the border, As we slowly drive home, look out the window and smile. And you’ll think to yourself not many people get to do what you just did. Your tour ends in Pretoria/ Johannesburg.
